Windows Blue Updates Will Transform Windows 8 into Windows 8.1

While Microsoft Corp. has officially confirmed that it plans to update a bunch of its services and programs with a set of new features and capabilities collectively known as “Blue”, the company has never revealed anything beyond that. Meanwhile, unofficial sources have discovered that Blue updates will not turn Windows 8 into Windows 9, but the version will be officially called 8.1.

Windows 8.1 is rumored to be just around the bend, with a code-name of "Blue."

A screenshot allegedly made on a system running Windows operating system version 6.3 build 9375 (newer than the one that recently leaked onto the Internet) clearly points to Windows 8 top-level branding and Windows 8.1-branded refresh. According to renowned Microsoft experts Mary Jo Foley and Paul Thurrot, the Windows 8 with Blue updates are indeed called Windows 8.1. Given that Windows 8 is a product that Microsoft will sell for years to come, the company will continue to advertise Windows 8 brand, even though the OS itself will get better over time, just like it always did.

Microsoft is now expected to release Windows 8.1 to manufacturing sometimes in August, 2013, which will give PC makers plenty of time to prep their all-new PCs for the holiday season, reports ZDnet. Moreover, given the fact that Intel Corp. wants to limit initial availability of its fourth-gen Core i-series “Haswell” chips this summer due to an USB 3.0 erratum, launching the refreshed OS this Fall seems to be a nice coincident for both companies.

Since Blue includes updates for numerous operating systems, services and devices that Microsoft has to offer, it is logical to expect them to land to Windows RT and Windows Phone platforms as well. The Blue update for Windows RT will be referred to as “Windows RT 8.1”, according to ZDnet.

While the full picture of Blue updates remains generally unclear, the enhancements of Windows 8.1 over Windows 8 have already been published:

some of the Enhancements features as follows:

New split-screen App options.
Improved modern UI PC settings.
New tile sizes.

More personalization options.
Picture frame mode.
New gestures.
New App: Calculator.
New App: Alarm.
New App: Sound Recorder.
New App: Movie Moments(video editing application).
Microsoft did not comment on the news-story.

8 Useful Tools For Customizing Windows 8

The following are the some of the usefull windows 8 Modern apps that helps you to make your windows 8 look better,

OblyTile

OblyTile allows you to create your own custom tiles for desktop applications, websites, folders, and anything else you like. You can download pre-created tile images, so you don’t have to make your own. Your custom desktop shortcuts can look much nicer than the dull desktop shortcut tiles Windows 8 uses by default.

ModernMix

Windows 8’s new Modern environment doesn’t allow you to run Modern applications in windows on your desktop. Microsoft doesn’t seem to think this is a problem, but Stardock has fixed this with their ModernMix application. ModernMix allows you to run Modern apps in a window on your desktops, even having multiple Modern apps on your desktop at the same time. Like other Stardock applications, it’s free for 30 days and will cost you a one-time fee of $5 afterwards. ModernMix is currently the only application that offers this feature.

Decor8

By default, you can’t choose your own Start screen background image. (Windows 8 does allow you to change your lock screen image for some reason, however.) Stardock’s Decor8allows you to set a custom background image and color scheme for your Start screen. It’s free for 30 days and will cost you $5 afterwards.

If you’re looking for something that’s permanently free, you can try Windows 8 Start Screen Customizer, although it hasn’t worked properly for us in the past. Decor8 seems much more polished and less buggy.

Start Menus, Boot to Desktop, and Hot Corners

Windows 8 replaces the Start menu with the new full-screen Start screen. If you’d rather have a traditional Start menu, there are quite a few third-party Start menus available for Windows 8. Manufacturers like Samsung and Lenovo are even creating their own Start menus and shipping them with their new Windows 8 PCs.

We’ve covered several start menus for Windows 8 in more detail, including Stardock’s polished (but paid) Start8 and the free Classic Shell. IObit also offers a free, polished Start menu for Windows 8.

These Start menus also allow you to boot straight to the desktop and disable the hot corners that activate Windows 8’s charms and app switcher when you move your mouse to the corners of the screen. You can still access these features with the appropriate Windows 8 hotkeys, even if you opt to disable the hot corners.

Aero8Tuner

Windows 8 automatically selects window border colors by default, but you can also select a color from a short list of provided colors. With Aero8Tuner, you can select any custom border color and color balance you like. You can also enable an Aero Glass-like transparency effect with this tool, although the transparency is very buggy and you probably won’t want to use it for long.

Win+X Menu Editor

Windows 8 has a special “power-user menu” that appears when you press Windows Key + X or right-click at the bottom-left corner of your screen. It’s full of links to things like the Control Panel and Device Manager.

If you want to add your own custom program shortcuts to this list or modify the existing ones, you can do easily customize the menu with Win+X Menu Editor.

Alt Tab Tuner VIII

The Alt+Tab dialog is extremely customizable. In addition to adjusting the thumbnail, icon, and margin sizes, you can also opt to use a class-style Alt+Tab dialog. However, these settings are buried in the Windows registry. Alt Tab Tuner VIII allows you to adjust these settings without using the registry.

Disable or Bypass Windows 8 Password prompt/window

Windows 8 has some effective tools which lets you interact with your PC architechture easily. There are many different enhancement and changes which can be confusing for the new users.

One of the new changes which is confusing for the users is the hidden option to disable or bypass the password prompt window. But, luckily there is a way to bypass the password screen. Here's How:

1. Boot your PC and enter your password.

2. Press Winkey + X (by which I mean hold down the Windows key and then tap X).

3. In the pop-up menu that appears, click Command Prompt (Admin).

4. In the Command Prompt, type control userpasswords2, then press Enter. (If this sounds familiar, it's because the same command works in earlier version of Windows.)

5. In the User Accounts dialog that appears, uncheck the box marked Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

6. Click OK, then confirm the automatic sign-in option by entering your password (twice).

7. Reboot your Windows 8 OS.

After reboot you will find that your Windows 8 finally understands that you don't want to enter the password every time you boot your machine.

Windows 8 Inside OUT

Windows 8 is the most important change to the Windows operating system since Windows 95. While almost everything you’ve come to love about earlier versions of Windows is still available, Windows 8 provides an infrastructure on which the next generation of PCs and apps will be built. These new PCs and apps will be powerful, fast, mobile, and touch-friendly.

Your keyboard and mouse will work fine, but you’ll also be able to bring new touch-friendly PCs to your couch, kitchen, patio, or wherever you want them. Your kids, and even that technophobic family member who only knows how to use Facebook on their smartphone, will be able to use the PC with little instruction.

10 Awesome Improvements in Windows 8 (Desktop User's):

It’s easy to focus on how Windows 8’s new interface doesn’t feel at home on a traditional desktop PC or laptop. But that’s only one part of Windows 8 – the Windows 8 desktop includes a variety of useful improvements.
If you’re a desktop user, you owe it to yourself to look over the improvements and consider upgrading. If Microsoft hadn’t removed the traditional Start menu and added a new interface, we’d all be considering Windows 8’s desktop an upgrade.

1. Boot Speed:

Windows 8 uses some tricks to dramatically improve its boot speed. Some people have seen boot times drop from 30 to 15-20 seconds on existing hardware. Instead of shutting down normally, Windows 8 employs a clever trick – it saves the state of low-level software such as the kernel and hardware drivers to the disk and restores them when you boot it up. Essentially, Windows 8 “hibernates” low-level system software instead of shutting it down, resulting in greatly increased boot speeds.
New Windows 8 PCs using UEFI will also boot faster than systems using the old-style BIOS.

2. File Copying:

File copying in Windows 8 is dramatically improved. The new file copy dialog allows you to pause file-copying operations, view multiple file-copying operations in the same window, and more easily manage file conflicts. The interface is simple by default, but you can also expand the dialog to view more information, including a graph of the file transfer’s speed over time.

Here’s How To Bring The Start Button Back To Windows 8

When users found out that Microsoft’s (MSFT) next version of Windows wouldn’t have a Start button, they panicked. Replaced in Windows 8 by the user interface formerly known as “Metro,” that tiny button is apparently so important to long-time Windows users that they can’t imagine life without it. Rest easy, neophobes — adding the Start button back to Windows 8 is easy and free, and we’ll show you how.
Microsoft spent a lot of time putting together a fresh new user interface for Windows Phoneand Windows 8, and we can likely expect some form of the tile-based UI to carry over toMicrosoft’s next-generation Xbox as well when it launches next year. Change isn’t always easy though, and lucky for those unhappy with the idea of ditching the Start button, third-party developers have you covered.

10 Must Have Best Windows 8 Software:

Microsoft has yet again managed to come up with a great operating system with Windows 8. This version will enhance user’s experience because it has a lot of offer to its users’. With the launch of Windows 8, Microsoft is expecting to bring back all the mobile, tablets users back to PCs. Windows 8 is one of it’s kind because it offers great support to touch devices etc. You might want to install some new softwares but you’ll be amazed to find out that Microsoft Windows 8 has various softwares and apps available of its own. Let us take a look at a few of the best Windows softwares that you should be looking forward to.

1.Metro Commander:

Metro Commander is conventional but a great File manager as it allows user to view the interface of folders and files in Windows UI Style. The navigation is really easy and convenient and since the app allows user to Connect to SkyDrive account, he can easily work on the folders within the system with Windows UI. Features such as create, rename, delete will work in Windows UI Style.

2.Multimedia 8:

Multimedia 8 is one of the best softwares for all the music lovers. This will allow you to browse through various music files with ease. It will also support you in accessing internet music files. Apart from this multimedia 8 has 3d video support, Multilanguage media support, easy management of playlists, easy conversion of videos, wireless streaming, audio/video recording and a lot more.
