Quick Start Guide
This guide will help you quickly get started with Unified Remote. Unified Remote relies on two main components: the server running on your computer, and the app running on your smartphone or other device. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to get everything up and running quickly.
1. On your computer:
You should first download and install the Unified Remote Server application on the computer you wish to control. Simply download, install, and start the application. The settings window provides: status and general settings, connection configuration (TCP, UDP, Bluetooth, etc), security (Password, Encryption), remote specific configuration, log, and about.
Once everything is configured, you can close the server window, since the application will continue to run in your system tray. You can always open the server window again by either right-clicking or double clicking the Unified Remote icon.
2. Prepare your network:
Once you have installed the server it is a good time to prepare your network. Unified Remote requires that the app and server can communicate directly (WiFi, Mobile Network, or Bluetooth). IMPORTANT: make sure that Windows Firewall and/or other security software is not blocking the Unified Remote Server application nor ports (default 9512 TCP and UDP). We recommend that you use Unified Remote on your local area network (LAN), otherwise you will need to open the ports on your router as well (Google port forwarding for your router model).
3. On your device:
Next you should download and install the Unified Remote app on your device. You can find all the links above. Once the application is running, follow the in-app instructions. The dashboard offers quick access to all the main parts of the app.
